Even though it is a buffet style restaurant you can order other items. The waitress were very attentive and constantly ensuring you had what you wanted.

We live in Terre Haute, Indiana and had to drive here to Vincennes to come eat..we used to have 2 Ponderosa restaurants in Terre Haute, but they closed them down a few yrs ago and we miss the food..

I've only eaten the buffet. It would never be worth my while to try to eat an entre' and the buffet because there is always so many wonderful choices on the buffet itself. The banana pudding is as good as my mom used to make.

They have a variety of salad fixings, hot food, and desserts.If you don't like buffet, they also have steaks, baked potatoes, and shrimp along with the buffet and salad and soup bar and dessert bars.

Really good food, decent steaks, and the smoked meat is very good, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, plenty of seating, and caters, the wing and fried cabbage are amazing

Ponderosa Steakhouse has been around for as long as I can remember. My gripe with this place is that their prices are pretty damn high when it comes to their buffet. I will say, however, that they have a wide variety of discounts to help alleviate the price. The buffet variety is pretty good, and the help there has never let me down. In fact, I'd say the service at this place may very well be the best in town due to some solid experiences with them in the past. Give this place a try if you're ever comin' through.

Unusual to see shrimp on a buffet. They had butterfly shrimp and spicy popcorn shrimp. Both were quite flavorful. Three soups and a decent salad selection. A separate hot bar with chicken, meatloaf and kielbasa. Mashed potatoes were instant; which was a disappointment. Overall, a good buffet that they kept fresh. Good flavor to everything. Several sweet choices; including cookies, brownies, pies, and cake. Ice cream was also available. Had a moist brownie and a dish of ice cream.

Great server. The steak was actually full of flavor and was on our table in record time. Reason was, it was almost raw. Sent both back, second time a charm. Done perfectly with juices retained. Good job Ponderosa.

Great food and service. We go a couple of times a month. I just wish they had more low sugar desserts for diabetics like a variety of fresh fruits.

The food is soooo gooood! I hadn't had such good food in a long time! It's a nice, homey atmosphere, and the workers were kind. Would definitely go again if I lived closer!

This is the second one I've been to. Each one is a little different in their own ways. This one has more dishes that are spicy. Spicy shrimp and spicy fish spicy chicken. There dessert options are different as well. I expected more for what I paid for lunch.

Always excellent! Everything is always fresh, hot, delicious! Huge variety on the huge buffet tables. Nice desserts and ice cream to choose from. Servers are always nice. Atmosphere is comfortable and restaurant is always clean. Great place, great value

I've eaten here several times, and the food is always hot and delicious. The staff is attentive and the restaurant is clean. There is an occasional wait to seated, but it is usually very short.

First time at Ponderosa. I was sceptical about coming here for 3 years. Always heard both good and bad things about this place. But I have to say, its pretty good! More meat options would be great but overall, really good tasting food. I'd definitely choose this place over Golden Corral anyday

Great place to eat. Buffet was good and so was my steak. And it's not to expensive either. I wish I could eat here more often but I dont live in same town, I wish they would not have closed all of the Ponderosas around my town.

I just loved their smoked wings, I couldn't get enough. I was not a fan of staff just standing at the door as if they had nothing better to do, we felt uncomfortable as if we were watched during our meal, very unsettling feeling when you are eating, so we had to move seating. Food is delicious, staff is friendly, just wish it wasn't so uncomfortable with them standing there. Definitely will be returning for The wings!!!

Waitress was extremely polite and helpful food was excellent and the choices were almost too numerous to say. I will suggest this place to anyone. Price was reasonable considering all the food that a person could eat.

Cashier/greeter was very nice and friendly. Our server was as well, kept table cleared of dirty dishes, and checked on us often. Buffett was clean, quiet a selection, something 4 everyone. Would highly recommend

When at lunchtime. Fried chicken was hot, instant mashed potatoes were runny, rolls looked burnt. Desserts were good. Fried chicken livers were few and well done to a crispy texture.

Service was slow and food wasn't cooked right when we visited recently. However the manager/owners were there and they gave us our food for free and a gift card for $60 so can't complain. When we used the gift card on our next visit the food was great and so was the food!

Always a great place to eat when in Vincennes, however when I got up the next morning to fry my half left over baked potato with my breakfast it wasn't with my leftover bag. I understand the need for wait staff to bag and even staple the bag shut because there are those that would take from the buffet, but what a bummer not to have what I'd paid for.

It's a steak place with a huge buffet. Do yourself a favor, pass on the steak and hit up the fried chicken on the buffet, trust me! You can get a good steak anywhere, but this fried chicken is one in a million!!!

This is a very good Ponderosa . Very clean and the workers, staff, all helpful. Nice smiles, good food, large buffet or order from menu. I finished with soft serve ice cream with bits and sprinkles!

Pulled pork and catfish were very good. All you can eat with salad and dessert bar 2 adults with drinks $33.00. Place was pretty clean and bathrooms were clean.

The fried chicken was awesome also the baked potato casserole was great but wasn't on the bar enough or couldn't keep up with the amount of people in the restaurant . But it was great and definitely a place to go back to.

Great buffet. Food was hot and delicious, servers were nice and attentive. Ours gave me the largest to go cup of unsweetened iced tea I've ever seen. Would definitely stop again and recommend it.

03/26/2020 - Had the take out meal this afternoon. Fried chicken, hash brown casserole, cauliflower with cheese. Roll and sweet tea. Good sized portions . Very good. And reasonable in price.

I have to say that I had one of the best experiences at a restaurant. I have to give the staff a lot of credit. With all the changes they were having to deal with do to covid-19 I it did not stop them from giving excellent service. I noticed that a lot of the staff were showing random acts of kindness. Not to just my family and myself, but to other customers as well. This was an awesome thing to see. I also need to mention that the food was excellent as well. Thank you ponderosa staff for going above and beyond my expectations.

The all you can eat buffet was very good and the cafeteria style service was great. Reminded me of being a kid and going to the buffet with parents hold your plate and they fill it. Staff was awesome

The Salad was 5 stars easily the hot food n meats were 3 stars and the watresses were stellar, 10 stars! They deserve a raise and huge tip, for all the extra work they have to do right now because of Covid. Over all a really nice experience, Enjoy!!!

We drove an hours time to go to this location and let me tell you it was very worth it! The food was hot and fresh. The staff were very friendly and willing to grab your food for you. At no point while eating there tonight was I concerned about catching COVID, masks were worn by everyone and the food was served by employees so not to contaminate. This location must be run perfectly because tonight I spotted NO flaws! If anyone is near this location or traveling through, definitely make this location a food stop on the drive, you won’t be disappointed! They just gained a new customer for life!

Great selection of hot foods, salads, & desserts. Pepsi products, tea, coffee & water to drink. Servers are right there to hand you a plate & then put on what you tell them. Friendly staff.

I visited for the first time today and we were definitely impressed! Although they have to serve cafeteria style there was a full Buffett and someone ready to serve you. Food was warm and delicioooous!! Would definitely recommend, family friendly and good hospitality

I enjoyed all the food but I gave it 4 stars due to seeing employees serving food after touching their hair without a hairnet and then reach down and pick something off the floor, toss item in the trash and then pick up a clean plate for a customer and proceed to serve them with the same "clean" plastic see through gloves and not change them before handling the new plate.

Love this place. If you've ever been before you'll love to come again. I used to go with my grandparents before I was a teenager and I haven't been for literally decades because the one near me shut down or moved. I'm 35 now and being there gave me an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia. Thanks Panderosa, I still love those wings.

My first experience at Ponderosa was very pleasant. I chose the buffet and was impressed with the wide selection of food and with the fact that the buffet items were very fresh. None of the stale food I so often find on buffets serving American food. I defintely recommend this particular restaurant.
